What types of internships are there? |
The Royal Decree 592/2014 governs internships served by university students. It states that there are curricular internships and extracurricular internships.

Curricular internships are academic activities included in the curriculum.

Students may also serve extracurricular internships on a voluntary basis. While they share the goals with academic internships, extracurricular ones are not included in the curriculum. They are included in the European Diploma Supplement.

What are the implications for the host company? |

Internships entail an educational cooperation agreement signed by the intern, the host company and the UdG.

Since the relationship is academic, the host company and the student don't enter into a contractual relationship during the internship.

The host company / institution and the UdG jointly establish the training project of the student.

The intern's training is tutored by an academic tutor and overseen by a supervisor appointed by the host company.

If the student is under 28, he/she is covered by the school insurance. If he/she is over 28, he/she will have to contract an accident insurance offered by the UdG.

If the internship is paid, the salary qualifies as personnel costs. If the host company pays the intern, it will also have to pay the employer's contribution to the Social Security.

The educational cooperation agreement may be cancelled at any time in case of breach of the agreement by any of the parties.

How do host companies access the UdG's internship platform? |
Each host company or institution must have a user account to access the web-based UdG's internship platform. The host company must fill in an electronic form stating a username and a pasword. When the company sends the form, it will receive a message to confirm the registration and to activate the user account.

How do UdG's students, academic staff and administrative staff access the platform? |
They can access the UdG's internship platform with the user account they use to access the UdG 'La Meva' Intranet.
