• Sustainable GW exploitation: Basic concepts on hydrogeology, groundwater flow and GW exploitation. Resources, reserves and demand - Goal 1
2) Week in Girona (13-17 April 2026)
• Monday: Presentation of the two areas of study:
? Area 1: Baix Ter – Baix Fluvià – Goal 2
Topics: aquifer characterization and monitoring, stream-wetland-aquifer relationships, groundwater exploitation for urban supply: pressures and impacts.
? Area 2: Tordera River basin – Goal 3
Topics: surface water, groundwater and wastewater joint management, stream intermittency, seawater intrusion.
• Tuesday: Field trip to Area 1. Instructors: A. Menció, J. Mas-Pla, plus the on-site contribution of instructors from foreign institutions.
• Wednesday: 9-13 h: Discussion with instructors; 15-18 h: Student group work: 3 groups – one per topic. Preparing a document (poster, conclusions)
• Thursday: Field trip to Area 2. Instructors: J. Mas-Pla, A. Menció, plus the on-site contribution of instructors from foreign institutions.
• Friday: 9-13 h: Discussion with instructors; 15-18 h: Student group work: 3 groups – one per topic. Preparing a document (poster, conclusions). Farewell/closing reception.
3) Online post-lectures (4, 11 May 2026) – format:
(1) Presentation of the students work on each topic (20-25 min each; 1.5 h) one day per study area.
(2) Discussion with instructors – debate – conclusions (1.5 h)
