Discovering Tagliamento River - A multidisciplinary approach from water flow and vegetation to land management - Udine

The primary goal of the Summer School is to engage younger generations, future researchers and professionals, in discussions on the biodiversity and sustainability of natural river systems, through the analysis of a unique and still intact system in the Alps.
The second important objective is the exchange of knowledge and expertise between students and teachers, to develop a common understanding of the biodiversity and sustainability of river systems and to promote citizen awareness of the sustainability of environmental management of these fragile and threatened environments.

Organitza: The program consists of an initial phase of online learning and a second phase of in-person learning, with fieldwork at key sites along the Tagliamento River in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The two phases will develop a blended learning approach, combining digital technologies with classroom and experiential fieldwork. In the first phase, students will receive the basics of working in groups, guided by teachers (synchronous and asynchronous), to build a common and shared knowledge base regarding the riparian environment, the dynamics of river barrier evolution, and environmental monitoring techniques. This phase will require them to implement collaborative strategies based on cooperative learning, using multimedia tools for sharing materials, files, and information (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Google Drive).
